Sheldon statewide exhibit “Finding Horizons” to visit York
The exhibit, “Finding Horizons,” from the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will open on Feb. 7, at Cornerstone Bank in York.
The exhibition is open, free to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., in the lower level gallery of the bank at 529 North Lincoln Avenue in downtown York. “Finding Horizons” is a collection of artworks exploring the genre of landscape. Through various techniques such as painting, printmaking and photography, this group of artists has been brought together for their strong use of horizon lines. From the realistic to the abstract, the horizon lines in this exhibition give viewers footing within these compositions, allowing them to share the perspective of the artist and consider the worlds they have created. This exhibition features artwork from artists such as Russell T. Gordon, John Pfahl, Manuel Álvarez Bravo and Thelma Lorie Christenson, among others.
